Apollo 13 - Lost Moon
This website is dedicated to the men and women that made up the team of NASA employees during the Apollo 13 mission to the Moon. Without their ingenuity and quick action, that voyage may not have had the outcome that it did. The astronauts would have become the first tragic losses in space.
Apollo 13 was supposed to land in the Fra Mauro area of the Moon. However, an explosion on board forced the spacecraft and its crew to circle the Moon without landing. During that time, all resources were redirected to finding a way to get the three astronauts back home safely.
The story of that trip was later made into a book, Apollo 13, by James Lovell, one of the astronauts on the Apollo 13 mission, and Jeffrey Kluger, a TIME Magazine writer. Their work was subsequently used as the basis for Ron Howard's film, Apollo 13. The text of that book has been summarized in the content of this website.
